Are Diet Colas Actually Healthy?

Millions of people all across the world drink diet colas thinking that, they are having a healthier sugar free drink. More than half of the population all across the world is weight conscious and thus instead of drinking all the sugary and canned drinks they opt for diet colas.

Diet coke was actually launched way back in 1982 by the coco cola company in United States on an independence day. Infact Americans buy and consume maximum amount of diet colas. At one point of time, it was actually proved that diet colas consists of aspartame, the killer sweetener. Aspartame was actually termed by experts as sweetener killing people sweetly.

Adverse effects
 of diet cola headaches/migraines, heart palpitations, fatigue, irritability, tachycardia, insomnia, vision problems, breathing difficulties, anxiety attacks, slurred speech etc. As per coco-cola company, aspartame has been reviewed by the health authorities all across the world and more than 90 nations have already approved of their use. However, there is a rumor that aspartame is actually not healthy and is a part of FDA’s secret report which names diet soda as the first source of aspartame disease.

In a recent study it was also proved that diet cola will actually make you obese and cause tooth decay. As per the study, cola consist of phosphoric acid or citric acid, which will leads to erosion of teeth enamel. In addition, study also proved that although diet cola consists of relatively less amount of sugar as compared to regular coke, it contains artificial sweeteners, stimulates appetite and increases the cravings for sweet foods. Artificial sweeteners are hundred times more sweet than sugar.

Some of these sweeteners are cyclamate, sucralose, saccharin etc. Infact cyclamate was banned in some countries in 1990’s. The study has also said that children should not be exceeding the ADI (Acceptable Daily Intake), as consumption of diet cola beyond a permissible limit for a longer time can be a cause for concern.Thus, we can safely conclude that do not drink diet cola under the pretence that it is a health drink or your key to weight loss. Drinking it occasionally or socially, should be fine but do not make it a part of your daily diet regime.
